4G connection for BBB - dongle or other, recommendations?

I want to get a 4G mobile data connection for my Beaglebone Black
(which is on a boat in France).
Has anyone done this with either a USB dongle or an external 4G router
via ethernet? I need something which can be configured to work at
power up with no user interaction. I'd also prefer something that can
use an external aerial as the BBB is buried in the middle of my
(steel) boat. Of course a USB dongle can be put on the end of a USB
extension lead and an external router can go anywhere within reason.
Are there any 4G capes for BBB?
Any help and information would be very welcome.
