moving from Angstrom to Debian

Hello everyone,
I have a BBB running Angstrom OS and i want to move to the Debian OS because there is many updates i need to do and there is no longer support for the Angstrom
my question is: other than moving my applications and files is there anythings i have to be aware of?
my current system
Linux BT-021 3.8.13-bone28 #39 SMP Mon Apr 14 15:13:29 EEST 2014 armv7l GNU/Linux

Load up an SD card with the newest version of debian and give it a spin.
See if everything works as you expect.
If you want to load it on your EMMC do a DD copy of your old image before you flash
in case you decide to go back.

Yes, but it would be better for you to pose specific questions as you need them answered. Or search the groups here as the questions you'll have undoubtedly have already been answered many times.
