Which kernel is better for stretch? 4.4.x or 4.9.x?

Downloading the Stretch IoT (non-GUI) from beagleboard.org[1] yields an image with kernel 4.4.91-ti-r133. A Stretch IOT image from Robert Nelson[2] has kernel 4.9.74-ti-r90. My question specifically is: why the difference, and is one preferable over the other? Thanks

Well, we are migrating to v4.9.x-ti and then v4.14.x-ti..

Feel free to still use v4.4.x-ti, as it's still being tested..

I see. I am actually more inclined to use 4.4.x-ti as it is listed as being supported till Feb 2022
