why use AWS Cloud9?

Hi,
I am new to using the Beaglebone. I opened Cloud9 IDE on my beagebone and I wanted to create an account so I clicked on the Robot icon on the top right corner on the screen and I pressed on account. It took me to a login page only for previously registered users and for new users they have to use the AWS Cloud9 version.
I have an AWS account so I started following through the steps without thinking what my goal was at first, which is to create a c9.io account. Now I would like to ask, why do I need to use AWS Cloud9 if I already have Cloud9 running on my Beagebone? What are the advantages and disadvantages?
