root access denied

Trying to login a new BBB image (AM3358 Debian 10.3 2020-04-06 4GB SD IoT).

Get access denied when using root login.

Docs show to use empty password.  I've also seen root as the password, as well.

debian and temppwd will work, but can't get root to work.

Are there changes to new versions?  Any help is appreciated.  Thx.

Are you logging in over ssh?

We disabled root access over ssh years ago as a security precaution..
