Hi

To do my thesis, I am running bcvtb 1.6.0 and run the examplefiles to co-simulate with energyplus, mine is version 9.3.0. I already updated the idf version to the current version and everything seems work, but looking at the output I still have a doubt.

The output is :

I guess it is related to idf file. But, since I am new to both programs, I need some advise. Any help would be appreciated!

I suggest to make sure that your IDF doesn't produce any error. You can do that by commenting out the "ExternalInterface,PtolemyServer;" object and running the file directly with EnergyPlus. If everything looks good then you will know that your IDF is fine and can re-enable the ExternalInterface.

BTW: you stated that you still have some doubt but we don't know what your concern is and can hence not really help.

Hi Thierry, thanks for your reply.

managed to run the idf file only, in the .err file it generated some warnings.

My doubt are, for example :
1) The system cannot find the file specified.
2) ERROR: ReadBND, Did not recognize: Controlled Zone Return,1,ZSF1,ZSF1 OUTLET NODE
3) Could Not Find E:\0POLIMI\THESIS\bcvtb-Eplus-radiance\ePlus82-schedule\Energy+.ini

Any comments on these statements ?

Thanks!

The first warning can be safely ignored
The second one seems to  be related to your IDF file. I gave you some hints on how you could debug this.
The third one is not clear to me.

I suggest to post the question to unmethours.com since the issue is not related to the BCVTB.

Dear Cahyo Adisaputro,

I found out at the beginning of this thread, you changed the BCVTB example files to Energyplus 9.3. I got stuck and cannot change these old files to new versions (9.3.). Would you tell me which platform did you use for changing? I used the suggested platform by E+ (http://energyplus.helpserve.com/Knowledgebase/List/Index/46/converting-older-version-files); which convert the .idf files to 8.5 and does not support converting to higher versions.

Thanks in advance,
Mostafa Meimand

I suggest getting the transitioned from the EnergyPlus GitHub website

Schedule example:

You could then either copy and paste the content into the old IDF file, or download, rename the file to SmOffPSZ.idf, and replace the one that is in the BVCVTB example folder

Actuator example

You could then either copy and paste the content in the old IDF file or download, rename the file to EMSWindowShadeControl.idf, and replace the one that is in the BCVTB example folder

You could then either copy and paste the content in theold IDF file or download, rename the file to EMSWindowShadeControl.idf, and replace the one that is in the BCVTB example folder

You could do that for past and future versions of EnergyPlus that are on GitHub, you just need to change the URL of the testfiles to the appropriate version.

This whole of course assumes that you have pointed the BCVTB to the version of EnergyPlus that can run your updated IDF file  by modifying the systemVariables-windows.properties.

Thanks!

Thanks, Prof. Nouidui, for your complete response and your help. I found another solution to this problem. In the 9.4 version of EnergyPlus, at the utility tab, there is a platform that allows us to change all old versions to 9.4.

I deeply appreciate your help,
Mostafa
