Hello everyone!

I wanted to send a message round, as it is the time of year where people start muttering about Barcamp Brighton!

Would you like to see a Barcamp run this year?  Do you have any feedback from last year?  Are people still keen to show up to this type of event?  (we had loads of no shows last year).

I have come to recognise my limitations on the organisation front.  I am more than happy to organise the venue / logistics / set up and budget... but for this year I would like someone else to take on the website, PR and sponsorship acquisition.

If people on this list would be up for working with me to get the other tasks done, then I am more an happy to organise another Barcamp this year. : )

Please let me know what you think.  I guess we should aim for sometime late November, if you would like to see this happen?

Jo

Back from BarCamp London now (it was awesome!)

Yes, I really want to help make this happen. I'd be happy to do Sponsorship Acquisition, I don't really know how but I spoke to some people at BCL who gave some good advice. I assume we have a list of people who have sponsored BCB before? How much do we need to raise? Do we have to pay for the venue or is just money for food and drinks?

Could also help with other things depending on how many others are helping out. I think Simon Elliott is up for helping but isn't on this list.

I'm in Sheffield until Thursday this week but is anyone up for meeting Friday evening to get this stuff started?

Hallo,

Yes I can share a list of previous sponsors, and how much.

Money - it really depends... all on a sliding scale!

If I manage to get the same venue as last year, they gave it to us for free, and paid for the security costs.

I tend to try and budget £5 per head, plus £5 per head per meal.  This means we cover costs for tea, coffee, transport, printing and snacks and then can feed people a number of meals depending on the amount of sponsorship we get.

The evening beer also counts as a meal!

Happy to chat about it in more detail - but I am not around on Friday : (

Cool, sounds good. So I guess how many meals we provide depends on how much sponsorship we can get.

When is good for you to discuss? Maybe sometime next week or I could do Skype this week if you want?
