It would be great to have support for the alpha channel (e.g.: rgba, hsla) in the Color Palette and in the CSS sheets. Any plan for the future?

Since the Colors palette is an OS element, I suggest you
consider sending feedback to Apple. :-)

Hello Patrick,

thanks for the clarification. I definitely will —guess they won't care much.
Would there be any way to get around this in the CSS panels (or sheets as they are called, I think)?
Perhaps adding a separate tool for selecting only the alpha or somehow splitting it from the RGB values?
It's a little annoying —it's the only annoying thing to me— when editing CSS with transparent colours and having to do some workaround passages in order to make adjustments.

Cheers,

alessio

Hi Alessio,

Perhaps for the panels; I'm not certain off-hand but if you
could please send a reminder to support, we'll be happy to
investigate. :-)

This seems to be EOLed but it's possible to add new panels to the built-in color picker. This one, Skala, has a few alpha channel options. It seems to work okay even though they've ended support for it.

Hope this helps,

I also would like to see some form of support…

as is not from the color picker but from BBEdit.

When I create rgb(255,255,255,.5) this is what the EDIT MARKUP shows me

it is black in the colored window. yet, when you remove the a, from rgba, and remove the ,.5, the colored window displays the white.

so why is it not showing the alpha leveled color?

Course, I do not use rgba often and use a different work around if I do need that type of style. But I wondered about it a couple of years ago.

FYI: I am using BBEdit 12.6.7 and have not upgraded OS for this coding machine. Not sure if I spoke out of turn and 13 already does this support.
