Search Results Inline

So I am now using a Macbook Pro M3, and love BBedit, however I am coming from using Notepad ++ for many years.  How can I use the search or Find all feeature but prevent the search window coming up into a new window.  I'd prefer to have the search results appear at the lower part of the main /same window - split in half basically.  As I click on rows in the results in the lower pane, it takes me to the lines in the upper pane.  Is this possible?

I’m not especially familiar with Notepad++ (I’ve used it once or twice
but only for quick and basic editing).

That said, Search ➞ Live Search (or type ⌘-⌥-F) adds a Find text-entry
field below the current BBEdit window’s Title Bar.

And, to quote the excellent BBEedit User Manual (Help ➞ User Manual),

> As you type, BBEdit selects the first occurrence of what you have
> typed so far.

This feels like something close to what you’re familiar with from
Notepad++.

BBEdit has dedicated ‘results window’ that will display your search results, in a way similar to what you described, if you you click on find all in the search panel or from the search menu.

The keyboard command ‘CMD-E’ it will copy your selection to a search clipboard.

It will then use that term for subsequent searches. So your can CMD-E then CMD-G to find the next result without using any special search interface. Or CMD-E then Search > Find All and it will bring up that previously mentioned results window.

Check out the Search menu as it documents the various key commands. It’s pretty neat how you can string the commands together.
