Hi and good day,

A little confused about this: when working on a file (here: npm1_e.html), then uploading it, I’m finally presented with 2 versions of this file, one local and the other online and updated (if it was this version which I last worked on.) … and I’m still editing more in the file (npm1_e.html) and uploading another time (⌘ - S).

Is there a setting where I only see the local file without the online one popping up?

What I’ve edited I can preview from the the local file no problem.

→ What also happens is that the online file was updated, but the local not, so next time with a general sync with FTP app the online changes will be lost!

This is confusing.

I do not understand why uploading the file adds it to your Currently Open Documents list. I've never seen that happen.

I'm curious, how are you "uploading" it?

Are you using BBEdit's "Save to S/FTP server", which uploads your document just by saving it?

@Greg Ya, it happens all the time, below is another screen dump.

The moment the file has been uploaded I get this online file in the 'Currently Open Documents'.

@Kerri Yes I use BBEdit’s “Save to S/FTP server”

And as there are 2 versions of the file, it is confusing.

I’d prefer not even to see this online file at all! :-)

"Save to FTP/SFTP Server" works like "Save As": if you open a file and use "Save to FTP Server", the current file is "relocated" to the server, and further edits to the file will change the copy on the server when you choose "Save".

From your description, I suggest that you use "Save a Copy to FTP/SFTP Server", which will instead save a *copy* of the current file's contents; further edits to the file will change your local copy.
