Working with a directory view, can I show hidden files?

I like to open directories in BBEdit. Sometimes those directories have hidden files or folders in them (aka dotfiles). Is there a way I can tell the directory view window to show these dotfiles? I couldn't find anything via searching the manual.

If that functionality doesn't exist already, please consider this a request to add it.

Thanks!

Yup :-), you can make BBEdit display _all_ files within a
project's file list, including invisibles, by clicking the
magnifying glass at the bottom of the list (aka the Filter
popup) and selecting the "Everything" option.

Thanks! I sure wish this information was in the documentation! :)

Please see pages 67 & 196 of the (current) PDF manual, which you
can open at any time via Help -> User Manual. :-)

is this per project? is there a way to make it a global setting? the manual seems to imply per project...

Sorry to re-open this.
Choosing "Everything" does indeed show the famous "dot-files" of Unix as well as the normal ones.
But... I have a bbprojectd file which is set to my home directory.  In that one's side bar, selecting "Everything" does not show the dot-files.
I wonder if this has to do with some protection.  I need to see the Library folder, but it does not show up.  I can add it explicitly but that is obviously not the solution.
Help!
:-)

Your Library should also be visible when you choose "Everything" ( and only then). Are you using git ? and maybe you have feeded "Library" into the .gitignore ?

Since the "Everything" option should always show invisible
files, including ~/Library when that's within the project's
scope, this is decidedly odd.

Are there any file filters active, and do any other invisible
items native to ~ (e.g. ".bash_history", ".ssh", ".Trash")
appear in the sidebar of the affected project?

Also, what happens if you create a new "instant" project that
contains your home directory ('bbedit ~') and likewise set it to
display "Everything"?
