The United States of America Computing Olympiad (USACO) is a national computer science contest for pre-college students. There are 4 divisions: Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum. There are 4 contest opportunities each year.
Participants begin at the Bronze level and are promoted to the next division if they do well. Each contest has 3 problems. You may take it at home at any time during the 4-day window. This contest is great for preparing for the Advanced Placement Computer Science (APCS) course in high school and improving applications for college.

SpringLight Education started USACO training since 2013. Our students received great results on USACO at all levels including finalists. Some of them had been admitted into many top colleges like MIT, Harvard, Stanford, CalTech, Harvey Mudd, UC Berkeley and more other colleges.

Most of the students who attended our USACO training classes and finished the homework qualified the next level like silver, gold level and platinum. Many of them got 1000 the perfect scores.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, all of our classes are online via Zoom.
Students can interact with the instructor during class.
We record all of the classes and send the video to students for makeup and review.

USACO Class Prerequisite
USACO Bronze Class requirements: Understanding of basic Java or C++. Can write code without syntax errors, and knows basics such as arrays, loops, conditionals.
USACO Silver Class requirements: Fluency in Java or C++. Ability to consistently solve Bronze problems. You should be very familiar with conditional statements (if/else), loops (for/while), arrays, and strings. Knowledge in classes, object-oriented programming, comparators, iterators, etc. is preferred.
USACO Gold Class requirements: Ability to consistently solve silver problems. The Gold material assumes knowledge of Silver class material, such as knowing how to do BFS, DFS, and sorting, as well as know how to use standard data structures like arraylists, linked lists, stacks, queues, deques, heaps (priority queues), and binary search trees (TreeMap/map, TreeSet/set).

Instructors:

Chris Zhang, 2 years USACO finalist. Rising MIT freshman. Codeforces problem writer and International Master. Over 2 years USACO Silver teaching experience at SpringLight.

Siyong Huang, 2 years USACO finalist. Rising MIT freshman. International Grandmaster at Codeforces. USACO Guide Content manager.

Mr. Felix Huang has taught computer science, math, and physics for high school students in learning centers in Bay Area for 10+ years. He has helped many students to advance from USACO Bronze, Silver, or Gold to Platinum. He is passionate about helping students overcome their barriers and reach challenging goals. He helped students gain profound understanding on these subjects. He works as software engineer in multiple areas including Java, C++, Python programming, backend data, and optimization problems. Mr. Huang received his MS in Math from U of Washington, MS in Computer Science from U of Arizona, and BS in Math from National Taiwan University.

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.

And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
