Hi everyone, I'm sending this on behalf of my team --- if you have suggestions, please feel free to either respond to this thread, email me directly, or email George directly. Thank you!!

Hi maker educators! Do you have a Laser Cutter Repair service or technician you recommend?  Bonus if they work on “Universal Laser Systems” laser cutters.

(Our ULS 4.75 isn’t connecting to the computer.  I’ve ruled out the computer, USB cable, laser cutter 48V power supply, and external USB port on the laser cutter.)

Thanks!

HI all - Circling back on this thread so hopefully, this list might be useful to future Bay Area maker educators looking for help with their laser cutters.

Folks my team have found through other avenues:

3200 Bayshore Rd. Unit 3, Benicia, CA
Moises seems like a 1-man team at a much bigger company, Great Western Ink, whose Northern California headquarters is in Benicia.  I’m not sure if that’s where Moises works. Moises took over recently when Casey Fukuda retired.  While I haven’t worked with Moises yet, he answered his phone on a Sunday to let me know he was on vacation, and Casey was always *amazing* to us.

Chuck Huie
1300 White Oaks Rd, Campbell, CA (near San Jose)
Chuck Huie seems more like a 1-man operation, in total.  He answered quickly, and within hours came up with a super helpful idea - to lend us some parts he had for us to swap out (or he offered to do the swapping), for diagnosis and to get us up and running quickly.  We’re currently using his laser cutter parts while he gets quotes together for a new part, or for just purchasing the used part he lent me.

Recommendation from Laurie Toyama (thanks Laurie!):

Mark Clements
Advanced Marking Solutions

I've had great service on our Epilog Laser Cutters through Mark Clements at Advanced Marking Solutions. They are an Epilog Laser distributor. The technician who came to tune and refocus our Epilog Fusion Edge was very knowledgeable. (Though it was about the machine not the ethernet connection). I found Mark at the Epilog booth at the Maker Faire on Mare Island a couple of years ago.
