Hi
I'm new to Basilisk, I used Gerris a little bit about 15 years ago, but I'm now trying to make use of Basilisk.
I would like to look at coalescence of two water droplets. So my first task is to be able to set the properties of the drops vs air - the density, viscosity and surface tension.

I'm trying to start easy with just a 2d simulation with no velocity and with a circular region with a different density to its surroundings. But I'm struggling.

I have tried setting the values of the rho[] scalar field and the alphav.x[] scalar field in either an init or properties event. When I try setting the alpha field I get a compilation error about it being constant.

When I do this the density still ends up being uniform accross the whole domain.

Would someone be able to give me a hint to get me started?

Thanks
Phil

Dear Phil

You have to include the headers two-phase.h and tension.h...

Check the properties event inside the header file two-phase-generic.h for how the properties are calculated...

Then you can specify the gas, liquid properties and surface tension inside the main program...

Search for 'drop' on basilisk.fr,  you will get multiple examples...

Specifically, check the Multiphase flow examples on Dr. Antoon's sandbox

Best wishes
