Hi,
We use a Tape Library with about 40 Tapes (with barcode). Everything worked well. After we had to move our Tape Library and re-scan our Tape Library the Barcodes changed with 1 digit extra at the end.
Old label, ABF924L became ABF924L5. In the data bank we were able to change all labels so bareos can find all Tapes in the Pool again.
Now when we make a backup we get the following error.

bareos-sd JobId 1846: Warning: Director wanted Volume "ABF924L5".
Current Volume "ABF924L" not acceptable because:
1997 Volume "ABF924L" not in catalog.

bareos-sd JobId 1846: Fatal error: Error getting Volume info: 1991 Catalog Request for vol=ABF924L failed: cats/sql_get.cc:1212 Media record for Volume "ABF924L" not found.

bareos-dir JobId 1846: Error: Unable to get Media record for Volume ABF924L: ERR=cats/sql_get.cc:1212 Media record for Volume "ABF924L" not found.

Is it possible to change the label on the tapes also without losing our old backups?

Many Thanks!

Relabel will only work on empty/purged volumes. By relabeling a tape,
data will be lost.
AFAIK it is only possible to append data to a physical tape, not
rewriting parts of it.

I can't see the original mail so I'm posting here (I found the original
post via google groups web interface).

I don't quite grasp your situation.

I assume you had 40 tapes for which you did "label barcodes" and
everything worked great. Then you moved... Well, what did you move? You
moved the tapes to another library or moved the library to another
bareos instance? I don't quite follow what happened. You attached new
barcode labels to old tapes? Or did the new library interpret old
barcodes differently? I'm a bit lost here :-) What are the labels
recorded on tapes themselves, what are the contents of barcode labels
and what is in the media entries in directory?
