mediaid limits?

Hi all,
If we are not recycling our tapes the mediaid is incremented when a
new tape is labelled. How large of a mediaid is supported?
If we delete older volumes from the database (not recycle) will
Bareos choose small mediaids which no longer have a volume associated
with it?
