Installing bareos-fd 21 on odd machines (howto?)

I've got a Ubuntu 20.04 VM that needs to be backed up via Bareos. Thanks to this group, I've made great progress and have numerous other machines being backed up nightly.

Is there a trick for how to install just the file daemon? Should I use the universal client? Finally, what command do I use to do the install of the .deb module(s) I've downloaded. (I'm a BSD person, so Ubuntu is foreign territory to me.) I could really use a hint or a vowel.
