Dear Ms Smith,
I am registered as an overseas voter in your electorate.
I am aware that the End Frozen Pensions Campaign is holding a Drop-In event on 22nd
April 2026.
I urge you to attend this event because it will enable you to understand the frozen
pensions policy and its affect on people who have contributed to the National Insurance
scheme. If you are familiar with this issue, attendance at this event will enable you to
lend your support for a change in this unfair arbitrary policy.
Yours sincerely
My Name
You will need to adapt this to put in your personal details.
You can add more if you wish e.g. how Frozen Pensions affect you personally but
Keep it short
Don't focus on individual issues
Do not include individual complaints
Avoid technical language
Do not include logos
REMEMBER
It takes 7 times before they will comprehend an individual message so we need as many people as possible to write in order to break through their consciousness.
GOOD LUCK
If you get a response please let us know.

the last reply I got was that he was too busy as a new MP to attend to it.
I don't expect a great response.

I personally am.grateful for all you and members do to.progress our cause
..HOWEVER, i do feel that we very seldom,if ever, have an update from our LEGAL firm in Uk,as to how and when they are putting pressure on for us...and what the tesukts are. I am sure we pay a considerabke amount for their  representation, and would not a quarterly update from them to lur organisation and members be an expectation?
We would feel less alone,at our great distance from Westminster?

That reply
"Too busy,as new MP" was,of course disgraceful!

Dear Bridget,

I have written and thanks for you information and helpful advice. From what friends in the UK have told me Britain is broken and that there is less chance of getting our pensions upgraded than finding a virgin in Soho 🤦🏻
Regards

Bruce Englefield.

The British government (and others) have a habit of not doing anything like we want, unless things are made really uncomfortable for them. For instance, the African colonies did not get their independence by sticking their hands up and pleading, “Please Mr McMillan, can we run our own show.” Twenty years of letter writing to MPS has given us absolutely nothing in terms of frozen pensions.

We need to become objectionable, hit them where it hurts. Think about it, every penny MPs choose to give us, is costing their constituents who vote for them. They know not many ex pats will bother to vote, and if we did, how much difference would it make? We need to boycott Britain – not travel there, not buy their goods…and stuff them up.

Sorry, but that sadly is the reality. We need new thinking, but as an aged group, there’s probably not a lot we can do. Get more media coverage, plugging British Injustice?? There’s history here, look how they raped the colonies…

Get your heads together, think differently, think outside the square.

Cheers

David Taylor Australia.

Dear Bridget,

I forward the reply I received from my North Devon MP. It seems there is at least one moral, intelligent and honest British MP.

Dear Dr Bruce Englefield OAM and Mrs Maureen Englefield RN RM,

Thank you for getting in touch about this event, I have noted it in my diary and will attend if my parliamentary timetable allows.

On the issue itself, I believe it is unfair that some UK pensioners living abroad are entitled to increases in the state pension and others are not, purely because of the country in which they now live. The Government should tackle this injustice while ensuring value for UK taxpayers.

Out of 13 million UK pensioners, 1.2 million live overseas. Most receive pension increases because they live in countries with reciprocal agreements. The UK has not signed a new agreement since 1981, and some, like the one with Australia, have lapsed.

Without agreements, uprating pensions abroad is costly. It would cost £0.5 billion a year to pay UK citizens living in Canada, Australia or New Zealand the same as pensioners living in the UK. Without a reciprocal agreement, British taxpayers’ money effectively goes straight into the pockets of foreign Governments.

The Government should prioritise new reciprocal arrangements to manage costs and provide oversight. Countries including Australia, Canada, Brazil, and Thailand have asked for agreements in the past decade – the UK Government has refused each time.

The Liberal Democrats have called on the Government to include reciprocal pension agreements in future trade deals. We also believe that the Government should conduct an independent review of frozen pensions policy.

Kind regards,
Ian
Office of Ian Roome MP
Member of Parliament for North Devon

And maybe our legal reps in Uk should rethink a new modus operandi to promote our  objectives ?

Thanks for all the information. If we can afford it would it be possible (whenever there is a trade deal going on,either in Uk or especially in Australia)for ou r organisation to enlist the services of legal or commercial enterprises in CANBERRA...to establish action,TV coverage of our plight  and consistent contact with all ministers  during any state visit of Uk negotiators?
This could be costly,of course, but one tends to feel that the best chance of change may take place thro actions here, with the uk.minister returning home regularly with no deal? UK folk and ministers seem disinterested in our cause from afar?
Do we have any one in Canberra who could
Fly the flag for us,give us publicity, whenever UK/,Aust deals are taking place?
If not,are we willing /able to pay additional subs.for these Australian services?...which could run alongside legal services already established in UK,hopefully with good liaison.
I do write to MP in Uk,to no avail/no reply.
Yes,we cannot do nothing, for nothing will change, but perhaps we need forceful representation via legal firm in Canberra too?
