Hi Everyone!
I've just found out that in July 2025 the UK Government set up a Pensions Commission to review the UK pensions system as a whole and the retirement outcomes it delivers. The Commission published an interim report in May 2026, and they are accepting comments up until 14 July 2026.
Dennis Reed from Silver Voices recently posted about the interim report in an update to the frozen pensions petition that Silver Voices has on change.org. Silver Voices has criticised the report because it does not tackle any of the major anomalies and problems in the state pension system, including frozen pensions. They have asked the Commission to consider the scandal of frozen pensions and to recommend to the Government that they conclude reciprocal agreements with as many countries as possible to stamp out these geographical anomalies. You can read the full update at https://www.change.org/p/tell-the-political-parties-to-end-frozen-pensions/u/34771820
Please consider sending your comments on the interim report to the Pensions Commission. Please be firm, but also respectful.
You can find the interim report at https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/pensions-2050-evidence-and-future-priorities-interim-report And don't be put off by the 190 page version at the top of that page. It should be fine to just look at the 25 page easy read version https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/media/6a074106229555d0fe8266c5/Second_Pensions_Commission_Report_Easy_Read.pdf
You can either send your comments by email to views.pen...@dwp.gov.uk or you can use the form at this link.
Due to other responsibilities that I have at the moment I am not going to be able to look at this. So I really do hope that you will all have a look at the report and then send in your comments either by email to views.pen...@dwp.gov.uk or by using the form at this link. Please do let the BAPA group know what you say by sending a copy of your comments to bapa...@googlegroups.com
Thanks
Paul

Frozen pensions certainly appear to be within the Commission's terms of reference as the Commission has been asked to consider the long-term future of the UK pensions system, including:
