AIBPARC/IBA/SBI Salute/email/2023
Date: July 01,2023.

The Chairman,
 IBA,
Mumbai.

Respected Sir,

Re: Payment of one-time ex-gratia to Pensioners and Family Pensioners attaining age of 75 years as on specified
date and above as a part of "Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav" and 75 years of Indian Independence by State Bank of India.
Ref: SBI Circular no CDO/P& HRD -- PM 17/2023-24 dated 30th June,2023 issued by Deputy Managing Director (HR) & Corporate Development Officer.

We are sure that the above referred circular has come to your kind notice.

The "SBI Salute"-- payment of one-time ex-gratia to Pensioners and Family Pensioners attaining age of 75 years as on specified date and above is a highly innovative and humanly super sensitive scheme to show respect to the senior citizens of the Industry. We strongly feel that all the Banks should emulate this great human gesture and IBA as an apex body of Banks has a big role to play.

We make an earnest request to you to apply your mind over our request at an early date and arrange to issue a uniform guideline to all member banks for honouring the senior citizens of the Industry in line with the scheme referred above.

With kind regards,

Yours faithfully,
Suprita Sarkar.
General Secretary

This is not an industry settlement.  SBI management has taken this decision recognizing contributions made by pensioners during their longtime service as well as to celebrate the good performance of SBI during the last financial year.  This is purely an individual management decision. Our Bank gifted a small wooden elephant to each employee during the 75 years celebration of the Bank.

Such things, when coming out spontaneously, is
the occasion to feel happy.

Not to be demanded, that too from those, who have
scant regard for pensioners and their issues.

An association fighting for the right causes of
retired senior citizens is not expected to
act like this. This is my humble opinion.

Yes, we agree, but we are not sure whether the same will be extended to the erstwhile SBI associate banks, since they were PSBs under SBI control, when the EPR/1995 was signed as an industry wise settlement.

Sirs,

All Pensioners are equal and same Pension Regulations are applicable.
Is it right to differentiate Ex-Manager, Ex GM, etc - while considering the exgratia ??

All pensioners are equal. Is it right to differentiate by  denying 100% DA to pensioners retired before 2002 and grant the same to post 2002 pensioners?

All pensioners are equal. Why there should be difference in basic?

This ex-gratia has nothing to do with pension. Those who have completed 75 years of age are honoured by SBI and paid cash intensive from 6000 to 120000 according to their grades at the time of retirement.
