Dear Friends,

Certainly the introduction of a scheme namely  "Tribute" by management of SBI to its original retired employees as well as  erstwhile associate banks retirees supporting families of retired employees at the moments of their departure,is a good gesture.
Few other PSBs too have found such schemes with difference in amount granted.
Let us congratulate the managements those who are extending such welfare/kind measures to families of retirees at appropriate moments.

Upon death?

For dignified living let various unions and management do something.

What Tribute?
While living pensioners were denied eligible benefits. 100% DA was implemented from 2023 instead of 2006 resulting in a loss of several lakhs of Rupees to pensioners. 5 years benefit was also rejected and second pension option was denied. Merger of DA not done. Updation is pending for 20 years and has not been implemented even though RBI pensioners got it. Pensioners spent lakhs in court to get some of these benefits. Totally managements have made Pensioners spend lakhs in courts to get even benefits agreed upon. Now they are in in hurry to say goodbye to pensioners

Somasekar ji.
The Bank knows that when retirees die the majority of them who are drawing less pension without updation of pension will not have money for cremation. The management of the bank has coined the high profile word.
Let the pensioner have that satisfaction that the bank has taken care of the retirees even after death.
Let us welcome and hope the pension updation will take place.

Dear Shri Somashekara,

In erstwhile Associate Banks, under the name of "Shradhaanjali", had a benefit of paying Rs.15,000/-.  This amount was paid to members of the family immediately upon the information about the death was received.  This was introduced because of two reasons:

a. There were many instances where families were not having monies for cremation
b. Employees/Retirees were feeling proud that even cremation is out of monies paid by the Bank & family members need not spend.

Unfortunately, in the name of updation, we are ignoring a lot of other benefits that should be pursued.  No responsible should do.

Thanks, a Million.

With regards,
Prasad C N

What I am saying is that apart from Tribute Bank managements should  consider the demands of retirees before their death also.

Let us not ignore the historical welfare benifits.each bank is extending to their serving and retiree employees.
Bank wise understanding are entirely different from industry wise settlement.
No doubt pension updation is more important and it should be achieved with out delay.

Is it not better to take care of the ex-employee when they are
alive than doing 'shradhanjali' after his life? We are forced to
think like this when their rightful benefits are neglected.

I totally agree with you.
Bank management could have very well taken steps to ensure that the pensioners do not suffer due to denial of their legitimate dues. For example, refusal to pay the 100 % neutralization since inception to pre Nov 2002 retirees has caused loss of a few lakh of Rupees to them. What is the justification for payment from Nov 2023 only ? This is happening because the management knows that the retirees ,( particularly the pre 2002 retiree) have no bargaining power whatsoever and the unions care a fig for this helpless group which is reducing in size by the day.
