IS UFBU LAUNCHING DHARNA & AGITATIONAL PROGRAMMES FROM 03.03.2022 FOR SPEEDY SANCTION OF PENSION UPDATION?

There has been a news announced by you tube today that UFBU is organizing Dharna and agitational programmes three days in March from 03.03.2022 demanding speedy sanction of retirees updation of pension. Is the news correct?

The proposed Dharna from 3rd  March '22 by UFBU in front of bank branches, is not exclusively to speed up pension updation !

It is on delay in  resolution of Residual issues.

Yes, among  other many issues of employees one is Pension Updation!

Until Updation of Pension is officially approved /communicated by MOF, retirees cannot anticipate much.

Let it happen.

I think first  a joint delegation of  UFBU and retiree organizations should meet FM in person and discuss updation issue. Then FM will advise IBA/Banks to schedule a meeting and discuss the issue.

Sairam, What are those grave residual issues other than Pension updation and 100% DA Neutralisation,which needs such a strong action of continuous 3 days Dharna in March . Hope this will not spoil the the retirees dish under preperation since long .

Our Updation case is posted tentatively on 22nd April 2022. Honourable Supreme Court may be closed from 23 May 2022 to 10 July 2022 for Summer Holiday. 

I find a similar case in Maharashtra. Here, Maharashtra State Transport Workers are agitating since last 4 months for their demand of Merger with the Government. Matter had gone in Honourable Bombay High Court. Honourable Bombay High Court gave time of 3 months to the Maharashtra Government to Constitute a Committee to prepare a Report on Merger and adjourned the hearing for 3 months. After Expiry of time of 3 months, the Government did not submit the Report in Honourable Bombay High Court and requested further time.  Honourable Bombay High Court allowed only One Week’s Time to the Maharashtra Government to put up the Report prepared by the Committee. Only within 2 days, the Maharashtra Government submitted the Report on Merger, prepared by the Committee, in Honourable Bombay High Court, in a Sealed Cover. The contents of the Report are not made Public. However, the Report will be put up before Cabinate of Ministers of Maharashtra and final Decision will be taken before 11^th March 2022. Honourable Bombay High Court will hear the case on 11^th March 2022.

Thus, entire process has reached almost finality within 4-5 months.

Their program is for pending issues and not updation of the pension scheme. We support UFBU all the time but this time let UFBU fight and watch development.

How strange! UFBU wants its representatives in the Board of directors but does not want retirees representatives in BPS where retirees issues are supposed to be discussed.

There is absolutely no transparency in BPS system as proceedings of meetings are not recorded. IBA/UFBU are not covered under RTI. IBA ,never communicates with retirees and Unions though have their websites never upload status of negotiations.Nobody  knows what is discussed in the negotiating room.

But an AIBEA leader while demanding workers representatives in the board said

" This undermines transparency of the banks’ working and there is no one who would criticise wrong moves made by the board or government,”
