Dear Friends,

As of now Bank retirees have no role in wage revision negotiations or matters related to post retiral benefits!

Let it be on revision of pension or on DR related issues affecting retirees!

However we keenly observe all these activities going on for the past six decades,as we too were part of it once.

Very pertinent aspect we have witnessed on this is inordinate delay in arriving on each settlement.

Last BPS/JN was already  due since 1.11.22.Ten months have already lapsed!Only preliminary talks was commenced.

Interesting factor is more delay is found  occured in recent  times.
In a technological advanced era while all data is on our finger tip, creation of  unreasonable delay in signing settlements is certainly erodes the credibility of stake holders.

Though MOF often remind IBA to speed up the process of these wage revision talks same has not been materialised so far where as maximum.delay occured in 11th BPS/8th JN.!

Our major issue of Updation of Pension too is pending for long time.( of course the same is also to be sorted out   through bilateral talks with IBA-UFBU)Even the negotiations; specially on our issues  too are not transparent and thereby  retirees too are kept in dark on developments taking place.

Retirees now look forward to the verdict of Delhi High Court  in WP(C)1875/2013 filed by Federation of SBI pensioners v/s Union of India based on report of Committe appointed along with views of IBA ,which has been posted to 6th October '23.

Pension Updation case No. SLP 5561/2016 filed by late M C Singla &Ors v/s Union of India may come up for hearing on 5th Sept '23.

Let us hope for some positive developments in coming months.

It sounds funny at the first reading.Negotiating wage revision for employees is a noval idea.On detailed thinking,I also subscribe to the idea.Merger of da,other allowances like HRA,CCA etc will have to be properly analysed. All special allowances should be abolished and made part of basic pay.Overall, emphasis must be focussed on retiral benefits.I know that our friends may laugh it off.

From the chart shiwing the due dates and actual dates of implementation of respective BPS, we can notice that the dt of implementation is around 5 yrs after previous BPS since 4th BPS. As per this, we can extrapolate that the 12th BPS would be signed some where in 2025. All due dates of BPSs are only dates and has no literal significance for signing the BPSs.
