In case UFBU and other Unions steadfast in achieving 5 day banking, let them give a strike notice. This is their legitimate right.

Afraid to  tread this path, Unions are delaying 'fine tuning' since December 2023.

The Government for their part also, categorically not declaring 5 day banking is
not feasible.

Nobody is certain on Court decision on updation in favour of pensioners. Ex-gratia from November 2022 subject to Supreme Court decision will be a welcome agreement to every pensioners particularly pre- Nov 2002 retirees.

If the Unions are not willing to conclude during present Government and current Finance Minister tenure for few more days, then there is no point in regretting later.

Think of senior and Super senior pensioners and act fast and save yourselves from their curse.

V BASKARAN.

Mr Bhaskaran,

Your statement as follows is not factual.

"Ex-gratia from November 2022 subject to Supreme Court decision"

The proposed Ex-gratia payable to pensioners of PSBs,under current BPS period,  is as per MOU dt 07.12.23 signed between IBA-UFBU and Hon.Supreme Court is not in picture now.

Why  individuals are interpret the MOU without proper understanding of the facts.?
Pl have facts and read the information as it is given by the negotiating unions and association.
We have no authority to misinterpret the understanding reached between IBA and UFBU.

For UFBU / CHV.  '5 Day Banking' is not the main reason for refusing to sign the BPS Agreement.
'5 Day Banking' non approval so far  is only a ruse for CHV (UFBU)  for refusing to complete the
Agreement. The Finance Ministry/IBA  has a pre planned strategy to complete the 12 BPS and implement
it well before the onset of Election Code Conduct for the ensuing general elections. During the BPS
talks only 100% DA matter was resolved.  Likewise , one more option for Retirees was inked. The Modi ji
Govt. wanted to complete the whole exercise and implement the BPS for creating a feel good climate
among the Bankmen  and  Ex Bankmen.  Through CHV the opposition - INDI alliance knows the  plan of the
Modi Ji Govt. to achieve some political mileage among this class of people also. They through the CPI have
achieved in putting spokes in the plan of the Ruling Govt. ( CHV is a communist party's important functionary
looking after the trade union movement in the Banking Sector. )  Through CHV the opposition INDI alliance
has effectively stalled the implementation of the 12 th BPS and the Ex Gratia and Arrears of Exgratia  to the
poor pensioners, expecially the pensioners of 5, 6, 7, and 8 th BPS, who are hoping to get a reasonable sum
of Ex Gratia per month and also the arrears of Ex Gratia w.e.f  01/11/2022.

You have missed the main objective behind stalling the implementation of 12th BPs. The objective behind this is to collect more levies from the arrears. They are delaying the matter by dragging it for a few more months to make up for the heavy loss they are going to suffer as a result of early settlement. They will try to drag it up at least to the completion of the electoral process of the ensuing Parliamentary election. The secondary objective is to please their political masters, as you have already stated. This is called killing two birds with one stone.

Krishna Kumar, a regular spokesperson of UFBU has posted a message that During last 5-6 BPS there is always delay in BPS agreements and it does not matter this time if it extends beyond elections and UFBU should call for strike. AIBEA some few months back itself planned  strikes during October 23-Jan 2024. Agenda was to carry on agitations till general elections taking the excuse of delay in settlement as they expected this time also BPS settlement will go beyond 2025.
But Hon.FM spoiled their plans by ensuring that BPS was completed within Dec 31st. Forget long strikes even one day strike was also not possible. AIBEA is controlled by CPI with indirect support from Congress. They will not allow a smooth process of BPS. They want Chaos.
Unless FM takes strict action it will be  a great loss to employees as well as pensioners.
One or two Individuals are holding the Banking industry to ransom.

MOU is only preliminary understanding and not final agreement. Terms and conditions will be framed while preparing the final agreement draft. It may be ready also but Union leaders are not disclosing details.
No where in the MOU dated 07.12.23  it is stated that EX gratia  is subject to SC verdict.
IBA will impose terms and conditions to protect its interests like Ex gratia  will be absorbed in revision of pension structure.
We may get some clarity on 01.03.24 when SC resumes hearing in the Singhla case. Further to IBA affidavit in SC during March 2022, IBA has offered Ex gratia. Will IBA file a fresh affidavit?

What is happening in todays bank trade union movement is that there is a silent movement of members of aibea and ncbe to Nobw. The power of these two unions are getting  eroded day by day. So you cannot rule out a possibility of Nobw and Nobo signing the bps before election. Aibparc meeting was addressed by Bms leaders, who has taken up retirees issues with FM.
