Do you want to Spike up the year 2020 before it goes plateau?

Join us and Simply Ride the Deccan Plateau to explore it’s rich cultural heritage. Then, push our way out of the plateau through the mighty western ghats and reach the sunshine by the beaches of Goa.

 *Date* : December 19 to 31
 *Start* : Hyderabad
 *Finish* : Goa

 *Estimated Total Distance :* 800KM

Important :

1. All days we would camp, so if you can't be out of comfort zone this isn't for you.

2. Completely self supported. No support car, no mechanics.

3. This is not an ride organized by any individual or a club. Whoever joins the ride will have to contribute in one or otherway. We have few experienced Tourers who will guide the newbies.

4. All costs will be shared as per actuals. No profit/No donation, pay just for what you owe.

5. Logistics and Tickets to Hyderabad and Back from Goa should be managed by you. Transport details would be shared to those who confirm.

6. You can join inbetween, peel off inbetween if you feel 13 days is too much.

If you are ready for the Adventure and want more details ping me or write to darp...@gmail.com.

I have been into Bicycle Touring since 2015 and can ensure you this would be one of the best chilled out tour you could ride with lots of learning about the culture, people, food and life.

**We ride only during the Hours of Sunlight.

From the image, i see the overall route is Hyderabad-Bidar-Gulbarga-Badami-Goa(Panaji?).  Nice.  Plotted the route on Komoot, to get a sense -- https://www.komoot.com/tour/294030754

Which ghat do you plan to take to Goa?  I suppose it would be Anmod or Chorla?  Tillari/Amboli might be bit too north, and Anshi might be bit too south.  Other than Tillari, I have done the others -- Anshi (up), Anmod (down), Chorla (up), Amboli (down).  I think Anmod (esp for getting to Mollem/Ponda) & Chorla (for Sankelim side) would probably be my top pics, then Amboli, and finally Anshi (not much in terms of views, IIRC; and road conditions in some stretches were poor in 2018-Sep; not so much with the other 3 ghats).

Can you share tips on how you do camping?  Mainly wrt picking a camping spot, vis-a-vis any 'permission' issues (from cops or locals).  And any dos/donts.

thx,  -{db}.

Yeah you are right. Just that we will also be visiting Belgaum.

Planned to go via Anmod Ghat and spend time in the South Goa before we board our  train to Bangalore.

With regards to camping, we usually try to camp in outskirts where there wouldn't be anyone to question in First Place.

Tips to Camp : Look for potential spots for the day using Satellite maps around 5 PM every day. Reach to the spot before the sun sets and understand if there is any risk. If it's beach could water come in? If it's forest what sort of animals does that area have. Check if there was any human activity in that spot.

We have faced both the extremes like Some Ppl offer to stay at their Home and some Calling the cops. But the Cops are usually understanding and at the worst case would invite you to the station for an overnight stay 😜

Never use torches or any sort of lights at the camp site and put yourself in spot light. 99% if you are bit away from human settlements and don't use lights it is a rarity that anybody would find you have camped there.

Thanks for the info on camping... need to see when I can muster up the spirit to do it. :)

Anmod Ghat ride should be awesome.  I had approached it from Ganeshgudi-CastleRock, & saw the path (closed) which goes towards Dudh Sagar (top side, I believe).  Doing that section, then Anmod Ghat, & then the Molem-Kulem-DudhSagar(base) would be an awesome loop.

Have a good tour.
