Yet to watch. But will definitely watch.

However, there is one thing that comes first to my whenever I think of Rohan and BBC - his fight with an uncle (well, he was young that time ;-)) about his shirt caption - "girls dig my ride" :-D

We owe a lot to Rohan for bringing Trek brand to Bengaluru and attracting middle class to cycling and also hosting the BBCh and probably bangalorebrevets, I believe. Hats off Rohan.

Enjoyed that a lot. And yes, I remember the terrace, up all those stairs...

Opendro,  very true on your words. I would have bought a shitty awkward-looking aluminium bike if I had not met Rohan in 2008.
The next is "Chicks dig my ride" - I think there is a video on youtube about it.
Rohan was supposed to be onboard TFN team but he was not available on specific day for registration.

You should definitely watch the video.

Enjoyed listening to the podcast. Made me wish I was in Bangalore while all of those changes were taking place. Also saw the 'chicks dig my ride' video and was left shaking my head in anger and frustration. It takes so much effort to bring about a positive change, and so little effort to pour cold water on somebody else's efforts. Some of those idiots were actually looking forward to start thrashing Rohan, had he retaliated in the least to their shoving and verbal aggression.

Thanks for the super podcast, Venky! I now have something new to listen to while unicycling :) Keep the content coming!

Regards
Prashanth

Watched this and few other videos. Neat.
As he says, FB/Internet must be huge impact for communities and businesses.

Tempted to have an FB account. All you guys must be super active there. I have access to public pages though.

I don't know how many of you grew up reading Sportstar and Sports Week Magazines. Not sure if they are still in print. I think Sports week was stopped long back already in the 90s. They were very popular before Internet.

Sub'd and enjoying the videos. The annotations are helpful too. But I am guilty of playing them at 2x speed as 60+ minutes is a bit long for normal playback  :-)

I remember SportStar. I had a poster of Kapil Dev posing on a Hercules Rockshox MTB which IIRC was a centrefold from the magazine.

Watched part of the episode... will watch the rest later today.  Great interview, giving lot of history/insights.  Yes, Bengaluru and Indian Cycling in general owes a lot to Rohan, and various other 'bums on the saddle'.  Hope we get more such stories on BikeyVenky's podcast.

Talking of BLR cycling community -- some of the big rides by AK, Chiddu, ... were good opportunities to meet cyclists, and chat about history/current events.  Hope after 6mo-1yr, the pandemic situation will be lot better, and those rides could be resume.

Planning to get the Wahoo Kickr Core this weelk... will see if I can join some BLR-centric virtual rides/communities.  If anyone has info, please share.

Praveen ... ya, remember SportsStar.  IIRC, a friend would go to the shop to get the new issue every Tuesday; price was Rs5?  I would go with him sometimes, and we would flip through some of it while walking back home from the shop.

Yeah. those magazines were a major source of information from international sports events. Also there used to be proper cycling club with imported race bikes and there used to be races between MYS<->BLR. Anyway its not relevant for this topic/thread.

You are getting indoor trainer, DB? Is it all easily available? Here it is still not so easy to find inventory. Lot of waiting time.

Waiting for my new carbon road bike (parts). Not sure if I will get the groupset in 4 weeks as promised. Otherwise will have to wait until september for Shimano to release their next iteration.
