Hi all.

I just bought a Nokia 800 Tough (model TA-1186 D5, SKU 16CNTB01A05). It comes with KaiOS version 2.5.2 (12.00.17.01). As some of you already know, there're some problems with its software and it seems that the new KaiOS 2.5.2.2 version (30.00.17.05) that some people claim to have, works very well.

I press update on the phone and it doesn't find any and right now it's very uncomfortable to use. So for example, I can't search for a contact, once it's synced with my long Google list. And I don't know if it happens to you too, but I can't search for a contact by voice.

I've searched and searched the internet and Nokia's website to see if I can update it manually, but I can't find anything.

Does anyone know how to update this phone?

Is the latest version KaiOS 2.5.2.2 (30.00.17.05)?

Thanks for your help.

I don't know where I read it. So there are three firmware for this model? V12 (the one my phone comes with, which I assume is the initial one), V20 (the one you mention, which I don't know how to update it and what improvements it has) and the V30 version (which you say is not recommended).

Have I understood correctly?

Those of you who have the V20 version, what problems does it solve and which ones remain?

I just bought the phone from Amazon and if the problems aren't fixed, I'm simply returning it, even though the price was good.

Thx.

Thank you for your help. First of all, as I still have the possibility to return the phone and get my money back, if it is not possible to do the upgrade without risk, I would leave it for later.

I will now go to your YouTube link.

I've just arrived and I am quite lost. In a word, what exactly is WebIDE and the omnisd apis?

How does it affect us?

I'm hoping that the problems we're having will have a solution but seeing that the phone is from 2019 I'm starting to lose hope.

If you want to sideload apps(install apps through your computer and
outside of KaiStore), you'll need WebIDE access. OmniSD is another way
of installing apps by providing packages to an app named OmniSD on your
phone from where it installs them on your phone.

I have v20 and it was with v20 from the beginning. I also had latest
firmware version available for 8110 and I have to admit that 800T is
faster than 8110 and also has a newer OS version(2.5.2 instead of 2.5.1
on 8110)

WebIDE basically lets you sideload apps on KaiOS and omnisd is a method of sideloading apps from the phone itself without a computer (it allows stuff like third party app stores to work)
