I was able to Jailbreak this phone using W2D.  But have been unable to get a root adb shell.

I have tried numerous methods to root it, including
 - wallace 0.1
- installing omniBB and using wallace toolbox

I did notice that this particular phone uses toybox I think instead of busybox?

If anyone has any other ideas that would be great!

Thanks

I used the W2D website method - open this page from your device - W2D KaiOS Universal Jailbreak (bananahackers.net)

MTK is the CPU manufacturer (hardware), and KaiOS is the Operating System (software).

Which Alcatel is MTK? Please specify your model name & we can take it from there...

That works to initially show the dev tools menu (which is hidden). Once dev tools are enabled I can connect to the phone with adb and sideload apps. Here's where I hit the wall because the Wallace temporary root won't root. The wallace toolbox requires busybox tools installed (which also needs root).  Without root, I can't remove the pre-installed apps (which is the only thing I care about).

yeah, pretty sure you can't get root with any of our tools at the moment on that this phone :(  so you're stuck w/ the pre-installed apps

If you have an Alcatel 5033A - Android smartphone, then you're in a completely off-topic thread...

I still can't get root, but for my purposes (locking out internet access from my kids) I no longer need to.
I've previously set the proxy config to "localhost" that is 127.0.0.1 on the phone. This via the table of settings (RAW via Pale Moon -> WebDev -> WebIDE with adb connected of course).  In the past this only took effect on the built in web browser. All the other built in apps (store, Google, maps, youtube, etc) all still worked just fine (must have ignored the setting).  I rebooted the phone multiple times, but that didn't help.

On a whim, I ran the latest OS update today and behold! All built in apps now report they can't connect.  I can still make calls and SMS just fine, which is in the end what I wanted.

Sharing in case other dads out there (with this phone trying to make it call/text only) are looking for a workaround and find this useful.  Options for new call/text only phones are slim to none out there right now.

Happy to post my setup and commands I used if anyone finds that useful. Just post a response here.
