Good morning all

Just a friendly reminder of our next meeting scheduled for 9 April.

Also please remember closing date for your entries is Monday 1 April - as I am getting outside judges we cannot allow any extension of the closing date

And above all it is also our prize giving evening so PLEASE make sure you can attend and why not invite a prospective new member along

Our theme for the month is : On the road

We are very short on portraits for the KZN Interclub competition. If at all possible submit some portraits for the month of April to allow us a bigger choice to enter for the competition

Hi All

Some time ago Pedro came up with the suggestion that the Club  buy a dedicated Lenovo 15.6 laptop  for the loading of the images for the monthly competition. I have looked at the emails from members and it is apparent that it had the support of the members as all that responded approved of the idea. Bhebin (spelling?) our chairlady agreed and said the committee would go ahead and buy the computer.

I am surprised to hear that this never happened and that we are using Pedro’s personal computer. As he is going on holiday shortly his computer will not be available for the club and we have the same old problem again

Please can we discuss this again and take a decision and implement whatever we decide

Hi Bill I refer to the email you sent regarding the(possible) purchase of a laptop for the club.

I am not sure what gave rise to this question/concern but let me put your mind at ease.

After the take-over of the new committee we did discuss the possibility of the purchase of a new laptop.

Pedro stated that he had no problem using his laptop a) he knows the computer well and b) who was going to take the responsibility to take care of the computer after the next meeting and c) we had to make provision to have the laptop insured. Pedro's offer was accepted 

In the interim we also moved to our new location and Simbithi management had no problem in us using the high quality projector which is installed in the roof.

We also have available the large TV screen should we need it

Everyone seem to be happy with the quality of the projection

I have also written to the GM of Simbithi to thank him once again for the use of their facilities

Also to mention that after every meeting Pedro loads all the images onto a memory stick, which I hold, and all the photos are transferred to an external hard drive so to ensure our images are not lost

Pedro can then delete everything from his computer

I also purchased a Mac laptop which can be used in the event of Pedro's not being available or whatever

Pedro and I had a training session with Caro Smith to teach her the procedure to be followed in Pedro's absence. She also uses a MacPro so the system is known to her.

As a matter of fact we have already loaded all the necessary documents for our May and June meetings as well. Caro will only have to transfer the photos from Photovault onto the system after closing date

Hi Theo

I was bragging to the members of the other photo club I belong to about the fact that we had bought  a dedicated computer for our monthly competition when they asked me to find out what we had bought and the price.

I phoned Pedro only to be told we were using  his computer as we had never bought one. He also said he was going to Europe and we would have to use another computer!!

Should we not buy one so we do not have to use a member’s computer?
