Push Notifications to Specific Audience NOT WORKING.

Hi Davi:

Well, I Just Started Trying Push Notifications and I Wanted to start by testing a PUSH Sent Only to my Device.

So I Added a new Audience, on the Conditions I Added that the Device Token Would be EQUALS TO MY DEVICE TOKEN, and Then just Sending a Simple Test.

My Token == <cb801467 f5bc2bbf a5f35e5f eff94e87 c2966103 1861f46e 2ed67a56 009ebf93>   (Maybe I Need to Add it WITHOUT the <>?)

Expected Behavior:

- Push Sent and New Audience Saved.

What's actually happening:

- I Didn't get the Push

- After Pressing SEND the Dashboard button says "Saved!" but If I Leave the Screen then I Don't have that New Audience anymore.

Please HELP>... this is also VERY Important for an APP in Production.

PLEASE HELP ME! 

This is the Last Step in my Development before Releasing the App Version Pointing to Back4App...

I'm still trying to test PUSH NOTIFICATIONS with NO Success....

I Try Adding my Device Token:

And then I Set it up as Following... it Says it is Saved, but NO PUSH IS RECEIVED...


Also, the New Audience is NOT SAVED. when I Go to the Dashboard and Back, I only see the "Everyone" Audience there :-(

Hi, Hernan.

I took a look in your code and it seems be right. But I double checked your print screens and it seems that has an additional ">" signal at the end of your deviceToken. Could you please remove it and try again?

Hi Davi:

As you can See, I Make NO Handling of the Token, I Merely pass it as is to the PARSE Server:

Should I Convert the Token (NSData) To String, REMOVE the Last Character ">" and try to Re-Convert it to Data and Send it?


Or is there a Simpler way?

Hi Hernan.

The code seems to be fine. I found the ">" character in the screenshot you attached when you were sending the push notification. So I'd like you to try send the push notification again, but when typing the deviceToken, remove the ">" signal.

Well Sadly it DIDN'T Work... 

Not only did I Remove the "<>" Characters from the Token, But I Even Tried to Build a Special Version "3.42" only on ONE DEVICE just to test the Push...

Nothing...

What can be Happening? I Also Tried Getting new Provisioning Profiles and P12, everything... Can we have a quick Session and Try to Set this up pretty quick?

Or is this too much to ask?

I went a bit Further and Tried to Send the SAME PUSH from the Old PARSE Console.

It didn't work at first but After Uploading the New DEV p12 it DID WORK!

That Crosses out the Provisioning Issue... Any Ideas ? :-s

Hi Hernan.

Sorry about the delay. This week was pretty hard to us.

So your problem is not only with specific audience. You are not able to receive push notifications at all, right?

So... I've just checked your certificate file in your app. It has password and it should not have. Please, try to export your certificate again and upload in back4app. When exporting, a password will be asked for you. Leave it blank and confirm. Then try again and let me know.

If you can't send the push notifications yet, please schedule a conference call here:

About saving audiences, Parse Open Source Dashboard doesn't save it yet. It will be probably done in the future.

the Certificate I Uploaded Had NO PASSWORD.

Just to Double Check, I Just Downloaded the APNS Dev Cert. Exported it again + my Personal Key with NO PASSWORD and Uploaded it to the Dashboard.

Still, Nothing :-(

This is the ONLY Issue Holding up the version (Delayed for over a month now), Please help me out.

Hi Hernan. I've just opened your certificate and it is showing an error message: invalid issue. Is this message also be shown to you? Please take a look if you have followed the steps of the link below:

Just to make Sure, I Re-Generated the APNS Certificate at Apple and Exported it with NO PASSWORD from the KeyChain into a .p12.

I Uploaded it to the Console but NO LUCK! It is still not sending Push.

I Hope we can fix this Tomorrow.

Hi Davi:

Well, I Spoke to Bruno, who was Very Kind and Helped me check out the PUSH.

We Discovered a BUG on your side guys when Sending a JSON Push through the Dashboard. Text Pushes seem to be Sending OK.

He told me that they would fix this bug by Yesterday but this is Still not Working.

This is the Only Issue that currently is stopping me from uploading the New Version of Loopacks pointing to Back4App.

Can you please Help me, or simply Fix this so I Can Publish the New Version?

PS: It would also be AWESOME if you can Save the Additional Audiences (Currently I Have to re-create the Audience every time I Go into the PUSH Dashboard)

Hi, Hernan. Actually it is a bug of Parse Dashboard we have currently installed on back4app servers. We've tested the new version of Parse Dashboard and it is everything right to be published in the next 24h. We will let you know. About saving audiences, we will start working on it soon. Best!

Hi Davi:

Just tried it... Got Nothing, not from the JSON Push nor from the Simple Text Push...

I'll give it an hour or so... I've seen it takes a while to get the PUSH Lately... might that also be an issue? It Used to be IMMEDIATE.

WOW! Suddenly they are WORKING!

So, the Difference was that I Was Sending the PUSH to a Specific App Version. And Now I Tried with Single Push TOKENS and it WORKED!

Oh I'm the Happiest guy Alive! Uploading new Build To Appstore.

PS: Can I Schedule Again with Someone so I Can Test the Push in Production?

Hi Huji:

I've been Debugging this for a couple of weeks now. They had a few bugs (And still have) but the Latest Version they Shipped seems to be Working.

Maybe I Can Help, did you review all the Mumbo-Jumbo of the Certificates, p12's (Uploaded to Back4App), Prod-Dev, Provisioning, etc?

Hi Davi:

Well Unfortunately The First PUSH I Sent on Production since I Launched the App @ Appstore did NOT WORK.

I Had to Go and Send it through the Old PARSE Console, which did Work Immediately.

Can you help me out ensure I Can Send PUSH from the Console @ Back4App?

Hello Davi - Hope you are doing well.

 I read previous posts of this discussion and came to know that this is the place i will get my issue resolved. Actually, i have developed app in parse and want to implement Push notification. So i did all the correct steps which are asked to do and when i am checking push notification from Back4app send push feature, its working fine and i am getting notification in my all the devices. But when i am trying to send notification from one device to another device, at that time its not receiving any notification on devices. But when i see the pase pushes, its showing there with Type : API, Target : Everyone, Pushes Sent : 0, Name: whatever activity i did, Time : time when i sent, Status : Sent. So can you please help me out here. Thanks in advance.

Hello!

Thanks for the feedback on Push Notifications! Also, regarding the Client Push, you may go to Login > Features (below your app name) > Core Settings > Server > Edit Details > Allow Push Notification from Client in order to enable that.

Were you able to do that? Did it solve your issue? Please keep us informed! :)
