BACC Fall Meeting 2023

Hello all, 

I am happy to announce that thanks to BACC co -chair Brittany Contratto, we will be hosting our fall meeting on November 28th at the Musuem of Science in Boston. We will start our meeting a bit earlier at 12:30 and will run until 2:30 pm. We will welcome a presentation from the Museum of Science staff on their recently completed NEH grant that dealt with evaluating museum spaces to find new potential collections storage spaces. This will be followed by a tour of museum storage. 

I will send a follow up with information on directions etc. If anyone has any questions in the meantime please let me know or if you would like to participate in the BACC leadership team please let me know. Thanks and I look forward to seeing you all at the Museum of Science!

Hi everyone,  

 

Looking forward to our fall meeting! Here’s a link to the Museum’s directions and parking information: https://www.mos.org/visit/directions-and-parking. A few things to note: 

• If you plan to park in the Museum’s garage, please bring your parking ticket inside, so that we can validate parking for free. Also, our garage elevator is currently out of service. If you need a parking spot on the first floor, please call 617-570-4502 before you head to the Museum, and they’ll provide instructions for when you arrive. 
• If you plan to take the green line to Science Park station, the MBTA announced that Green Line service will be suspended between North Station and Kenmore. From the MBTA alerts, “Shuttle Buses will be available between Kenmore and Copley/Back Bay. Riders can use Orange Line for alternate service Downtown.” It is a fairly short walk on a nice day from North Station or even the red line's Charles/MGH stop.

When you arrive onsite, head to the main lobby and check-in at the Information desk (Museum map for quick reference). They'll validate parking tickets if you parked in the Museum garage. We'll have a few staff guides bringing people from the lobby to meeting room.

Hi everyone,

 

We have a Masonic apron that is constructed from white leather with synthetic ribbon trim.  The leather is creased/wrinkled, as well as water stained; the trim is fine.  I would like to think it is a fairly straightforward relaxing and cleaning project.

 

Does anyone have a conservator to suggest who might work on these materials?
