Subject: [Forum] Device question

Hi everyone,

Would you mind letting me know what kind of device your lower school(pk-5) students use?

I'm wondering:

1. BYOD or school device?
2. iPad? Chromebook? Both? Something else?

Thank you!

Alex

Our K-2 students each have their own school issued iPads and students in grades 3 & 4 have laptops.

We use shared iPads in grades 1 and 2. K has access to them when needed, very infrequently. Grades 4 and 5 have Chromebooks and we have delayed giving our 3rd graders CBs until midyear.

Happy New Year!

Hi Everyone,

Our first and second graders have iPads. Our third and fourth graders have MacBook Air’s. All of those grades are one to one, but the devices stay in school.

We have a class set of iPads in our early childhood division that can be borrowed by anyone. Generally, a few are borrowed at a time in kindergarten and pre-K. Their use is very infrequent.

Happy new year.

We are a 5-12 day school. 5 & 6 are Chromebooks and 7-12 MacBook Air. All devices are issued and owned by the school and go back and forth to home with the students. However, this year we kept all middle school devices at school over break. We use Jamf Pro to manage Macs.

Hi All,

This thread is much appreciated as we are also reviewing our device choices.

Re: BYOD -- We're currently completing a Cybersecurity Audit and were told that more schools are moving away from BYOD for security purposes. Has anyone else pulled back the BYOD option?

Thanks.

Kindest regards,
