Sharmila,
We generally recommend starting with a pair of binoculars, especially if you are a beginner to the hobby. The Celestron Astromaster is what is called a 'Hobby killer' scope. A department store scope. Bad optics, even worse mount. The slightest movement, and the scope vibrates like crazy. Plus the eyepieces provided are mediocre, at best. For about the same price you can get a good pair of binoculars. Olympus, Celestron, Nikon, Pentax, are some of your options. A 8x40 or a 10x50 binocs will offer much better views.
Start off with binocs, attend a few of our star parties. Experience some telescopes hands on, then decide where you wish to spend your hard earned money.
