Here is another one I'm unsure about.  It took me forever to find this record.  It is marriage record for my 4GGP.

Groom:  Joao Teixeira Barroso
Bride:  Anna Maria
Groom's parents:  Thomasia da ?  (not confident in this)
Bride's parents:  Manuel Machado da Cunha (again, my best guess) and Barbara do Sao Pedro

no ages given for Joao or Anna Maria??

Thank you!

Yes you are correct again.  The questionable word I believe is da Trindade (abbr. ?Trin.de?) but not 100% sure.  The modern spelling is Tomasia da Trindade

Could the groom’s mother be Thomasia da TRINIDAD- and the last name is abbreviated?

I read the bride’s parents as MANOEL MEDEIROS DA CUNHA (I didn’t see it as Machado and if you oook on the next page towards the right the name Machado in that record isn’t abbreviated.  So maybe “MEDEIROS”?
Also- Manoel is spelled o e l. (Not   M a n u e l  like in Spanish)

Notice the mother is widowed and the husband’s name seems to be Jose de (?souza?) (or something with a Ba). Soarez and he is the son of Anna de Ressurecao (resurrection in Portuguese) I think and unknown father.

The groom was baptized in the matrix so whatever the matrix in that freguesia should have the baptism.

Best of luck.  Youre getting it.

Yea me!  I thought it might be Trindad but don't have the confidence to be sure.  Thank you!

Oh, I see it now— the Matrix where you might find the baptism or death record the deceased husband would be the matrix of São george.  You know his mother’s name,e and where he was baptized and maybe Theres a death record for him there.

I thought the record said she is the daughter of Manuel da Cunha and Barbara do Sao Pedro, widow of Jose ? Soares.  Would that indicate that Manuel & Barbara were the parents of Anna Maria, but Barbara was subsequently married to and widow of Jose?  Why doesn't it indicate that Manuel is de funto?  Pretty certain they weren't divorced.

This record is strange in that it gives the bride's parents and says she is a widow.  It even gives the name of her deceased husband's parent.  Here is what I see:

João Teixeira Barroso, filho de Thomasia (Tomasia) da Trind.e (Trindade) e de pai incógnito com Anna (Ana) Maria filha de M.el (Manuel) Md.o (Machado) da Cunha e de sua mulher Bárbara de Sam (São) Pedro; viúva de José de Sousa Soares, filho de Anna (Ana) de Ressureiscam (ressurreição) e pai incógnito.

Then I look up her first marriage and it agrees with her husband's name and his parents: José de Sousa Soares, filho de pai incógmito and Ana de Ressurreição.  It gives her as Ana Maria, filha do Manuel Machado da Cunha and Paula de Santo Antonio, já defuntos.  Her mother is Paula de Santo Antonio instead of Barbara de São Pedro so I am a bit confused.  It is here:

https://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/SJR-VL-SANTOAMARO-C-1779-1817/SJR-VL-SANTOAMARO-C-1779-1817_item1/index.html?page=15 (left side)

I apologized if I've completely messed this up and caused confusion.

I misinterpreted that record.  But it is packed with information and I am not experienced enough to be able to pick it all out determining what is important information and what is just standard verbiage for the document.  I looked at the record of Anna Maria's first marriage and will add that to my tree.  In the first marriage record it indicates that both her parents are deceased, correct (ja defuntos)??

Also, is there a difference between "nao sabido" and "incognito"?

Interestingly, the son of Anna Maria and Joao Barroso who is my 3GGF was named Constantino Jose Soares and one of his brothers also went by Soares.

Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and experience.  You are invaluable!

Yes, I see "ja da funtoS" so both of her parents are deceased.

Literal translation:
não sabido - not known
incognito - incognito (which is basically not known). Maybe there is a slight semantic difference, but for genealogy, they are unknown.
