Olá, pessoal!
Alguém saberia me informar como pesquisar o rol de confessados de uma determinada paróquia? Por exemplo, estou tentando pesquisar o rol de confessados da povoação de 1677, entro no link abaixo e nada aparece:

Very few confession rolls were turned over to the DDA/DRAC, as they are not considered vital records - baptisms, marriages, and deaths.

The priest went from house to house to hear confessions. The confession rolls I have seen are organized by street. If you are looking at 1677 in your freguesia, you will have to read the whole year. Once you find your family though, you can look at the next year (if it exists) and look for the street. You won't have to read every single family.

Also, I stopped searching via the CCA directly. It's too clunky and displays only 10 lines at a time. I use tombo.pt. Stay in the left column for navigation. Scroll down to the Azores and click it. Then find your island and click it. Then your council and click it. Finally, pick your freguesia and click it. Alternatively, you can type your freguesia name in the top search box and press enter. For English speakers, you don't need diacritics. I typed "ponta garca" and not "ponta garça." All freguesias with that name will display and you pick yours.

I'll do Ponta Garca on Sao Miguel island:

It tells me where it is located (Sao Miguel (island), Vila Franca do Campo (the council) and then Ponta Garca (the freguesia).
Records can be from 1675-1905.
The church is Nossa Senhora da Piedade.

Then we get to the main part. EVERYTHING that the CCA holds on Ponta Garca is then displayed. They have the usual baptisms, marriages, and deaths. But they also have some indices and a few legitimizations. No confession rolls for that freguesia. If I did this search on the CCA site directly, I'd have to click every single circle to see if they hold anything in that category.

Now, let's look at Luz on Graciosa:

Some of their records go back to the early 1600s!
They have legitimizations and confession rolls. I can see all records that the CCA holds on Luz.

Habits are hard to break, but it doesn't take very long at all to get used to using tombo.pt to access the CCA. It is much better than guessing on the CCA site.
