My dear friends of the group! I am confused by the name that the priest gave to this record: https://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/SMG-PV-FAIALDATERRA-B-1700-1725/SMG-PV-FAIALDATERRA-B-1700-1725_item1/index.html?page=71
in this case, it would be the first record on the page on the right, just above. I'm looking for Bárbara, who married Caetano de Sousa, and they both got married in 1745: https://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/SMG-PV-FAIALDATERRA-C-1742-1756/SMG-PV-FAIALDATERRA-C-1742-1756_item1/index.html?page=24
I found in this same book from the period, about 8 of Bárbara's siblings: Maria (1705), Manoel (1713, I'm also confused about this one), João (1714), Thereza (1716), João (1718), Izabel (1719), Manoel (1723) and Margarida (1724), however, I can't find Bárbara's. To make matters worse, I found a record that I suspect belongs to Caetano, her husband: https://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/SMG-PV-FAIALDATERRA-B-1700-1725/SMG-PV-FAIALDATERRA-B-1700-1725_item1/index.html?page=160
But the age difference between them would be too great. Could someone please help me?

That priest started the baptism by talking about himself!
Barbara was born 10 Mar 1709.
Caetano wab born 20 something. The records around it are Feb. 1725.

That Barbara is 16 years older. That would be a little odd. Maybe Caetano owned land or had some money?

I'd look for more Barbaras born in the 1720s or even to maybe 1730. It's also rare to see a bride marry at 15 in the Azores, but it does happen on occasion.

Then again, maybe it is them. Maybe Barbara was the "old maid" daughter who never married and Caetano took pity on her.

If it is her (born 1709 and married 1745), she's 36. She doesn't have a lot of child bearing years left. How many kids did they have? If they are having kids in the 1760s, that makes Barbara getting a little to old and I'd be suspicious.

Just my thoughts!

Chery and David!

In this record where Bárbara is from 1709, I searched all the others, and I found her siblings born to the couple Manoel da Costa Salgueiro and Maria (in some records she appeared as Furtada and in others as Teixeira, but it was obviously the same person, since the age difference between the births was no more than 1 year and a half, which shows that the couple dated quite a bit, apparently!) Now I'm going to find out if, after this marriage in 1745 between Caetano e Bárbara, they had more than one child, since João de Sousa, from 1753, seems to be the last of them.
