I have two questions on this one.  #1 what does the side note say?  It goes on to the next page for the side note and my second question.  #2 what is the word and what does it mean in front of the groom’s mother’s name?  The priest seems to be calling out that this is the father’s “legitimate” wife.  I don’t usually see that done….

#6, bottom right:  Manoel Soares Coelho and Maria Umbelina de Jesus

As always, your help is much appreciated,

Side margin note #1: The marriage was dissolved by the death of the spouse, Maria Umbelina de Jesus, on the 31 March 1905, in the same parish, record #2. Then the next might be a 2nd margin note. Something happened on the 1 Oct 1997. I'm not sure if it's his death. There's 2 abbreviated words right after the (Ass. No.2).

On the groom's mother, yeah, it says legitimate mother. There's something before the dad's name too. More research is needed. Perhaps his mother died and he was raised by a stepmom? I've never seen this either, so perhaps a native speaker can shed more light on this.

In 1997 the guy from the archive in Ponta Delgada wrote that side note. I can't understand the abbreviation "Bol. Dir.".

#2 the sentence is tricky but basically the priest meant that both son and father were from the same parish (from São Pedro), and them moved on to the mother (from Barbara), going back to the "formal" model of the marriage records. Uff!
