Terri,
The record states the different dates and places of baptism for the Joao and Maria, who were both Expostos; Joao on Mar 9th 1834 baptized same day in Candelaria. Maria baptized in Sao Sebastiao de Ponta Delgada … days of of the month of January of 1844.
The document is a legitimization record for these two exposto children on their father’s deatch bed as declared in the hour of his death recognizing them and marrying/receiving their Mother ……… marriage … book 8 of this Parish pages 113….
It also goes to say the mother also recognized them as her own children…
Record signed and dated June 11 1845

Terri,
It’s good to do your own search to verify but you will be searching in vain, if indeed this is the couple you are working on. They only had 3 children (Umbelina, Joao and Maria] plus one unborn child at the time of the father’s death. Umbelina was already married by the time the parents were wed.
Here’s the marriage record on the death bed of Joao Travassos and Josefa Mariana, right sight. Look at the bottom where you will see the named children the couple had between them.
I have ancestors married at 12 and 13 years of age.
