Hi there,

I recently came across some new information that someone added on Geneanet for a person that I considered any further information on completely unknown and unfindable for the last few years.

They list their source as "Árvore genealógica de Diogo Andrade França"
They also list a MyHeritage link underneath it: https://www.myheritage.com.br/site-family-tree-52254281/tudo-certo-e-nada-resolvido?rootIndivudalID=1709322&familyTreeID=1

I dont have access to MyHeritage and upon a brief search of the source I can't find any sort of copy (as usual).

Is anyone familiar with this source in any way? I haven't come across it before.

The person is Alexandre Gomes, born late 1600's. Entire subsequent Gomes line has lived in Ribeirinha, Terceira ever since. In his marriage document it lists his father as Matheus and his mother as Maria Gomes. I have never found any other information at all. Joao Ventura also mentioned this was the last info he had on this family. But now this individual lists his father as Matheus Goncalves Doeira and his mother as Maria Gomes.

Any insight on this source, how else they may have gotten this information, and what the MyHeritage site says would be immensely helpful.

Muito obrigado,
Jacob Lobao

I found a different tree "Davis website" on MyHeritage that listed Alexandre Gomes born on 15 Mar 1671 in Ribeirinha, Terceira which I did find in the parish records here: https://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/TER-AH-RIBEIRINHA-B-1624-1705/TER-AH-RIBEIRINHA-B-1624-1705_item1/index.html?page=82.  The record starts on the bottom left and finishes on top right.

The 15 Mar 1671 is actually his baptism date and the birthdate is not listed but presumably immediately prior to that.  His parents were Antonio Gomes and his wife Francisca (possibly Miranda?)
The godfather was Rev Padre Alexandre da Costa, the Cura of Sao Bento Parish.

Hi Jacob and Bill,

I have Alexandre Gomes married with Catarina de São João.
They had at least 8 children. His father is Antônio Gomes, without his mother’s name. His paternal grandparents are Pedro Gomes and Catarina Simoa.

A girl born in 1696 and 8 marriages beginning in 1726 until 1742. Perhaps the Alexandre born in 1671.

The marriage of 4 of their daughters is found in Vol. IV of Familias da Ilha Terceira : https://philippegarnier112.wixsite.com/familiasilhaterceira/copie-de-familias-da-ilha-terceira?lang=pt

Hey guys,

Thank you for the information, however we all seem to have different information/people we are looking at, hopefully we can get this sorted. Here is the information I have.

Marriage record between Alexandre Gomes and Caterina de Sao Joao, 14 Oct 1669.

I got to this record through one of Alexandre's sons, Antonio Gomes, married to Antonia Evangelho, 21 Jan 1731.

It clearly lists his parents as Matheus and Maria Gomes. In this new MyHeritage tree, it lists the father as Matheus Goncalves Doeira (Doeyra). I have not heard the name Doeira, have you? Also, I was not aware that the symbol used in the text meant Goncalves, is that true?

So, I think Bill's Alexandre must be a nephew or something, as he was born soon after this marriage, but to different parents than what I have.

Phillipe, you seem to be referring to the same Alexandre Gomes, but I don't understand the parents/grandparents names you have. I only have Volume 3 of your book collection thus far, but I am interested in getting to the bottom of this.

Best,
Jacob Lobao

Hi Jacob,

The parents and grandparents come from documents I found in the Angra Archives. All these documents are transcribed in Vol. IV (family of João Lourenço) also with the ancestors of Catarina de São João.
