I am looking for any digital copies of Eglinton Estate rentals books which mention McMaster. 'No.19 Moncur flour, barley and corn mill let to Robert McMaster for 20 years from Whitsun 1800.'  I am led to believe that the Mill and/or Millers house were destroyed? around 1815.

Feel free to email me outside the group.

Thanks, Greg

Hi Greg,

Not sure if Roger Griffith is one this site .  He should be able to help you.

However, I did just google "Eglinton Estates and rental estates and came up with the following links:  https://www.ayrshireroots.co.uk/Towns/Ardrossan/Ardrossan%20-%20Eglinton%20Estates%201815%20Rentals.htm.  These records are only showing the date of 1815.  Information on the site says that Original rental book held at Ardrossan Local History Library - http://www.northayrshirefhs.org.uk/new.html.

Hope this helps...

Debbie,

Thank you. I have visited that site but didn’t see anything, but I will check again. There might be a connection that leads to another clue!

Best, Greg

Hi Greg,

Try to make contact with Roger then as he goes around Ayrshire researching and recording local history especially around Eglington.  I think he was once working there but not sure.  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eglinton_Castle
