Hi all, just a note to say I have been running "QGIS for Geologists" courses for the AIG (Australian Institute of Geoscientists) for the past couple of years and support seems to be growing over here in the west. Really like the QGIS2threejs plugin which can display down hole drill data. We just need a dedicated drill hole and cross section module now! If anyone would like a copy of my user manual for geologists, please let me know and I will post the link.
Cheers Grant

Hello, Grant.

I am not a QGIS plugin developer, but I am interested in what you are doing, so please post.

Hi Grant,

Sounds interesting, be great if you could share it here.

Hi all,

the link to my "working draft" of Using QGIS v3 in MIneral Exploration" can be found here "https://www.dropbox.com/sh/j1dexxwrjkabj4r/AAAW4Jj7yr8h422VTsHjTPc5a?dl=0". I update the document when I find new interesting stuff that geoscientists use or I feel they should know. I have not yet discussed the drill hole display in QGIS2Threejs yet but it is on my hit list to document. I hope the image comes through OK below.

I am currently working with a client doing cross sections and downhole plots in MapInfo and this reinforces my desire to get a QGIS drill hole plotting and cross section module developed! I did have a discussion group running betwen a number of interested parties from various parts of the world, so maybe I should resurrect this and get the conversation re-started.

Cheers Grant

Hi Grant,

Sounds interesting.

One thing that is probably worth exploring for development of your tool would be a crowdfunding campaign just like North Road has been doing. I guess you'd need to scope out the requirements and get a good idea of the development cost, but I reckon among your active community you could raise the funds this way.

Keep us in the loop if you head down this path, we can even use the @QGISAU twitter account to help you advertise the process.
