That’s a really weird number. What type of map is this from?
Cheers Grant

Thanks Emma,
But the only number I have is 37587928, so either I am dumb or I have not idea how to convert this grid number
I live on Gadigal land lll

Sounds like it might be something like 375800mE and 792800mN. Does that fit the area?

Hi Carlos,
Did you set the project to the local UTM? AGD84 z55 or something like that? Check the projection of the map.

I am a bit puzzled about what map Carlos is looking at. I used DIGS to search for geological maps in NSW. I suspect it might be the Wollongong Port Hacking geological map !:100 000 – but this was only released in 1985 although I have come across a slightly earlier version c1981.
The base map is the standard national map 1:100,000 Transverse Mercator projection (ADG66 I am guessing) and Zone 56 and AHD 1966
Does this help? Once the map is established then we can try and work out its projection

Carlos,
Good news the Wollongong 1:250,000 sheet is available from the State Library of NSW or the National Library for download. The NPWS did use the first edition 1:250000 not the second edition for their site cards.
The bad news is
1:250000 is a terrible scale for site locations
and
There were huge issues when the original grid references were reprojected into GDA95 with many sites being replotted out to sea. No sure whether this was a software problem or an archaeologist problem.
My practice has been to try and rely on the description of the sites location.
I used to be the Site Register in Victoria and worked in NSW for the last 20+ years so I am familiar with the problem. At least you know where Currans Hill is.
Cheers

That’s the only info in the sheet. As I said I am trying to locate where approximately is this place.
