Dear all and thanks Kerry
due to some pressing work commitments we have not been able to settle our media release on "tenant's equity" yet. In the meantime, you may like to read our release of today's date on some difficulties the charity got into with the ACNC  - difficulties not directly related to community land trusts, but of interest nonetheless

I'm interested to see the lease. Is it a lease for the use of land held by the CLT, or is it a residential lease for a house?

Hello Linda and all
thank you for your request  to "see the lease". You might like to read the attached draft "prescribed form Victorian residential tenancy lease" and explanatory statement we posted to this group in December last.. Such leases need to be prescribed into government regulations. The best advocates for this are the CLT advocacy organisations - of which there are a few and perhaps might include BCCM?.

I should be in touch next week with a media release enclosing a lease "additional term". The additional term had to suffice for my client, in the absence of a prescribed form lease.

Hi everyone

We’ve just posted two fabulous new resources to our website, of interest to all with a CLT bent.

Australian Research – what people priced out of the market think of re-sale limits

This link takes you to Australian Resources and links to the REALLY INTERESTING and TIMELY research Louise Crabtree-Hayes published earlier this week. It looks at people’s interest in acquiring permanently affordable housing with re-sale limits and forgoing capital gain.

Here it is again in case you missed it when Louise circulated it - it’s really worth a read. https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.1080/19491247.2024.2367830

Just a heads up that we are going to host a webinar in the next few weeks with Louise who will present the research and participate in the discussion.

ACLTN Submission

Here is a link to our recent submission on the Draft National Urban Policy for Australia. This really helps to position CLTs as a key enabler for community governance and engagement.

The Australian CLT Network

If you haven’t checked out our website yet this gets you to the homepage. https://www.australiancltnetwork.org.au/

And lastly, if you haven’t joined yet and want to, here’s a link to our membership page https://www.australiancltnetwork.org.au/getting-involved

Happy reading

Cheers

Kerry
