Subject: Austin Bicycle Advisory Council (BAC) and Pedestrian Advisory Council (PAC) Joint Meeting
When: Tuesday, March 16, 2021 6:00 PM-8:00 PM America/Chicago.
Where: https://austintexas.webex.com/austintexas/j.php?MTID=m2a2cdead1efa204831e0e24cbee64ee2
This is a wonderful idea. I had to dig around on the website to find out dates. It looks like the rides had to occur and be logged in February to count. Is that correct?
Thanks for forwarding, Carl,
Heyden
Thanks for the additional information, Stephanie.

Subject: Re: Original Austin Black History bike ride
This is NOT the first Black history ride. Six Square did one in 2015, and Decipher City did two in partnership with Ghisallo Cycling Initiative in 2019. That information has been on both sites for over a year.. Please stop erasing the work of Black women.

HI Everyone,
Thanks for that amazing overview, Briana. I noticed that the video from the meeting is posted here: https://austintexas.webex.com/recordingservice/sites/austintexas/recording/09f519f82d694e6d92c3c0637433f89f/playback
Also, I recently saw the attached report on equity in transportation. It looks like it was created for the Smart Trips program and might have some helpful information.
Thanks much,
Heyden

I may have shared this before, but an interesting talk on transportation equity was presented as part of the Imagine Austin Speaker Series (http://austintexas.gov/department/imagine-austin-speaker-series ) as couple years back. Late to the conversation here but I really, really want to point out the error in calling Talib’s ride the first black history ride. I think it is necessary to call out and honor the work of Six Square and Decipher City, especially as active bike and ped advocates here. It’s great that he’s garnering so much media/attention but it’s deeply unfortunate to see the incredible work of black women unacknowledged. Please take a moment to read up on this 2019 Woven In Among Us bike ride and check out Decipher City's resources, including podcast episodes, while you're there. I cannot find info on the Six Square ride but here is a short blog post for your perusal.

Yes, thank you. I searched through my old emails and found a message from Eileen with the 2013 Route map: https://www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/169457504I don't seem to have any pics from 2013 handy, but I did find some pictures from the 2014 ride (attached).--Patricia
