Unused traffic lights (looking for old thread)

I remember about 10 years ago, there was a thread here about a set of traffic lights that were installed in NSW but never turned on. I seem to remember they were for a mining project in the Hunter that didn't go ahead as originally planned. Some of the legs of the intersection weren't even at the same level as each other. Can anyone figure out where it was or find the original thread? I've tried and can't get any results for it.

Sounds like #4383 Caledonia St, Government Act, Kearsley. The lights were related to proposed mine rehabilitation in Werakata National Park. I don't know if anything ever happened with them. They're still there, covers still on.

There's a similar situation where the Burnett Hwy meets the Bruce Hwy just south of Rockhampton.  The lights there were installed around 2018 iirc and they're still covered with "not in use" signs.

There's a set in Shepparton Victoria that we're installed in 2020 but still not turned on

From what I read the Wyndham St, Shepparton lights either side of the railway are still waiting to be linked with the railway signals. The Glebe Rd/Park Ave/railway lights in Newcastle were installed and turned on without any dramas.

The Bruce Hwy/Burnett Hwy intersections looks to me like the lights are there to handle traffic during flood closures. It looks similar to the three sets of lights along the old Pacific Hwy between the Hawkesbury River and Kariong that are only turned on during M1 closures and don't have the physical covers so they can be turned on remotely. There were also the two sets of lights to handle Hexham Bridge contraflows which normally had they yellow covers over them but they were removed with the recent upgrade.

There was something similar at the Old Maitland Road/Pacific Highway intersection (SV: https://maps.app.goo.gl/h29ncM8HxF6tBK2Y6), but it looks like the signals were removed recently in preparation for the M1 extension. I remember asking a question about them years ago, but I've now forgotten if these signals were ever used or if they were installed and abandoned.

Those were part of the contraflow arrangement for the northbound Hexham Bridge, which was installed in 2003 when the southbound bridge was closed because a truck had collided with it [thanks Ozroads for the information]. It continued to be used for biannual night closures to service the southbound bridge but was removed as part of the Hexham Straight widening.

There's a cross-over facility on the Tomago side in order for southbound traffic to be pushed onto the northbound carriageway. At the set of lights in your GSV capture (#3900), traffic turned right toward Newcastle, then at another set of lights past Old Maitland Road (north)(#3899), traffic was able to U-turn back toward Maitland.

There was an AD [GSV] facing the wrong way on the northbound bridge ramp which still had SR111 on it. In Vincent's GSV link there's a strange ID pointing Maitland and Sydney toward Newcastle, here's the angle it was meant to be viewed from: GSV.

I was going to ask whether it's still possible to do a U-turn to head back to Maitland at the lights further south, but it looks like that whole part of Maitland Road is getting widened so the U-turn bay has been nixed.

Yeah, the widening is complete and the U-turn has been removed but vehicles can U-turn in Old Maitland Road anyway
