I have been wondering what cam I had in # 78 ( which I'm pretty sure car was how it came from factory ) so some of you probably have the same cam . It had the 1-5 firing order so that ruled out the 351 cams . It turned out to be a Comp 268-H which was a fairly mild (Duration @50 =218 /lobe ctrs @110 and valve lift with 1.6 =.456 ) but a very popular cam and a big upgrade from the stock 302 cam back in 1980's. I put in a EDL 2122 cam which is a little better especially with the 1.7 roller rockers. I had the dreaded corroded water pump bolts ( a common ford problem) so you have to basically grind timing cover around three long bolts to get it off. This setup will have to do till I get a roller cam setup

Just be sure the lifter journals in the block are deep enough for the roller lifters. I went to a later block, a 1990 Lincoln block with deeper journals. -Tom W
