Spending early mornings having coffee and watching the feeders from my window, looking for any new winter visitors. So far, we've only had one Tree Sparriw show up yesterday.

Anyone seeing any siskins, redpolls, or grosbeaks yet?

Tree sparrows just showed up here in Sidney this week. Hoping for redpolls and grosbeaks too.

Good to see Evening Grosbeaks popping up in some places around here. I haven't heard of any settling into a feeder in Kennebec Co., but there is a place in Orono where they have. Email me if you'd like directions there.

From eBird, it looks like the Redpolls and the Bohemian Waxwings generally haven't made it south of the St. Lawrence River yet. Hopefully they'll keep heading south as the winter progresses. Pine Grosbeaks and more Siskins may arrive as well. The Augusta Christmas Bird Count on Dec. 20th should tell us a lot about how many winter finches and friends are around.

There have been a few reports of redpolls and pine grosbeaks in Aroostook and Northern Penobscot on Maine Birds (Facebook).
