Big numbers of waxwings today

About 1900 Bohemian Waxwings were reported today in Kennebec County (Waterville, Augusta, Hallowell, Gardiner)! Flocks were estimated between 100 and 790. It seems like this could be a new wave that has arrived.

Wow!!  That's amazing!!  Thank you for sharing!  I havent seen any yet this year out my way, but I've been birding from inside because I've been sick with the nasty cough going around.

Today was the second day in a row that we had big flocks on the Thomas College campus. They come and go, favoring the taller trees around the main courtyard, occasionally coming down to eat the fruit on the smaller trees along the sidewalks.

Unfortunately they don't seem to stick around for more than 20 minutes or so at a time (typical behavior I suppose), so difficult to plan for them...but you're welcome to come try!
