Good article.  I have been saying for years that this is the most dangerous part of the world, and have been nearly laughed out of the room for stating this opinion by national security experts (I occasionally teach courses related to this field).

Water is one of the key points of contention in India-Pakistan tensions. As global warming accelerates, we can expect the ice pack to diminish in the mountains, further reducing the amount of fresh water in the disputed area.

Groupthink is widespread.  People are taught that the South China Sea, Iran, and North Korea are the problem areas.

Also, people from these types of backgrounds are poorly equipped to consider climate change factors.  On the other hand, they are usually very well informed about cybersecurity issues.
