Larvae and YOY troubles

Hello Atlantis community,

I am struggling with an issue in reproduction. When viewing output with ReactiveAtlantis function recruitment.cal, the YOY number for all groups appears to be the same number over the year (basically a "flat line"), even though these groups do not have constant recruitment independent of adults (rather a mix of Bev-Holt [flagrecruit 3] and calving a fixed number per adult [flagrecruit 12]). The larvae number varies per year, as expected, but YOY never changes; sometimes, YOY is higher than larvae numbers!

Am I missing something really important in the biology prm? Or are there other parameters that might be interfering with reproductive output?

G’day

 

YOY is a simple index of recruitment that is stored at time of spawning. If you don’t have flag_sanity_check turned on (i.e. if 0) it will be calculated once at start up and never updated. If flag_sanity_check is > 0 then it will be updated per spawning event

Thanks for your reply!
I turned on flag_sanity_check, and still got some groups with larvae biomass < YOY biomass (on ReactiveAtlantis). At this point I was wondering whether the number of larvae is given in the same units, or as numbers of spawned individuals?
I'm checking this as my Antarctic krill and mesopelagic fish age classes tend to become uniform in terms of biomass as the model stabilises over time (i.e., 20 years into the run and onwards), whereas I'd like younger age classes to be more abundant than adults...
